Getting started in a new sport is often the hardest thing. Thankfully there are several options available to new players who want to play Ice Hockey, regardless of their level of skill.

The Auckland Ice Hockey Association has a number of programs and resourses to help with those players starting out in their hockey career.

The 2013 AIHA Learn to Play Program takes kids from the age of 4 upwards, and introduces them to the basic of Ice Hockey with weekly sessions at both Paradice Avondale and Paradice Botany.

At the same time, understanding some of the Basics of Hockey can help with understanding of the rules and enjoyment of the game.

The selection of the correct gear is important for player safety and player comfort. There is plenty of advice concerning gear selection. The AIHA also has an extensive gear library, which can be hired by players as required, for a modest term fee.

In 2013 AIHA launches our new Beginners League program, providing players with a 3-on-3 game environment.

Paradice Skating also offers tuition with their Learn to Skate Programs.

AIHA regularly runs School Holiday Programs, providing Hockey coaching and supervision.
